d'Arnaud non-displaced fracture in left foot. Out 4+ weeks

Well we all woke up this morning to bad news in Mets land.  Top prospect Travis d'Arnaud fouled a foul ball off his left foot last night causing a non displaced fracture.  He will be forced to war a walking boot for the next few weeks and will be on the sidelines a minimum of 4-6 weeks but probably closer to two months.

Unfortunately it will probably also result in delaying his major league time of arrival to two months beyond that, as the Mets will want him to get his feet back under him and get more work at Triple-A.  This will result in him probably not up here until late August or early September.

You feel for the Mets at their fans.  But most of all you feel for the young man.  If it were not jore an injury last year he would have been up June in Toronto.  And now he this secondary injury it is essentially taking a year off his major league career.

Now injuries can happen anytime at level.  But this should serve as a reminder every player only has so many swings or pitches in them.  Their careers can end in a instant.  So when a player is obviously ready do not waster their time at a level they are obviously above.

Not that this would have been avoided had d'Arnaud been at the major league level.  But he should have been up here already. d;Arnaud proved in Spring Training he was major league ready.  The Mets had their reasons and their faux reasons for keeping him at Triple-A.  But their reasons are wrong.  If a guy makes you better now.  You bring him period.

This should further show them they need to bring Wheeler up now.  Like I said every pitcher only has so many pitches in his arm.  It is time to stop wasting his in Triple-A.
